Spring in the Burgh

Spring in Pittsburgh is very unpredictable. One day it’s 20 degrees and snowing, the next day it’s 85 and sunny! You can experience two seasons in one day but lucky for us, there’s something to do no matter what curve ball mother nature throws at us! Here are some fun ideas to pass the time while counting down the minutes until summer arrives…
  • The Pittsburgh Marathon: The marathon is Sunday, May 7 and the weekend brings so much fun and excitement to the city. Participating in the race or lining the streets to cheer on your favorite runners of steel is something to be a part of. It’s also a great way to explore Pittsburgh’s 90 eclectic neighborhoods. The sense of community and enthusiasm can’t be matched. Click here to see the full schedule of events including a fitness expo and the Finish Line Festival.
  • Baseball season is underway! Our beloved Pittsburgh Pirates kicked off their season strong and victorious. PNC Park is voted the most beautiful ballpark in America year after year so head down to the North Shore to see the battling Buccos, gorgeous views of the city and enjoy the new amenities added for the 2023 season including a simplified entry process that will reduce the amount of time guests wait in line, a refreshed kids play area in right field featuring life-sized bobble heads perfect for taking selfies with, a climbable pirate ship and several new beer markets and food options. Tickets are reasonable and the memories you’ll make are priceless.
  • Drive Ins are open: Pack your snacks, chairs and blankets and jump in the car and head out to the drive in. There are several surrounding the Pittsburgh area including The Starlight Drive In in Butler, The Dependable Drive In located in Moon Township and The Evergreen Drive In in Mount Pleasant. Plan ahead, these locations are popular and operating dates and times are dependent on the weather.
  • Puttery Pittsburgh: The latest adult playground on Smallman Street is re-defining the mini golf experience. Puttery has a high-energy atmosphere, and each hole is an immersive experience with the opportunity to socialize and make new friends. There are three courses and two bars offering craft cocktails, food, and music. Click here to make reservations. Walk ins are always welcome!
  • Ride the Incline(s): Back in the day, inclines were the primary source of transportation for workers to get from their houses on the top of Mount Washington to their jobs at the Steel Mills down along the rivers. Today, riding one of the two inclines is the quintessential Pittsburgh experience and a must do for visitors and locals. This is the perfect way to view the full skyline and experience the rich history of the city. Inclines operate 365 days a year and run every 5 minutes.
  • Fallingwater: Designed in 1934 by famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Fallingwater was named a National Historic Landmark and voted Best All-Time Work of American Architecture. The house sits partially over water in the Laurel Highlands, just 70 minutes outside of Pittsburgh and the design combines a unique style of art and nature. Several tour options and experiences are available daily. Click here to book a tour today.
Pittsburgh has so much to offer. Get out, meet new people, experience new things, and enjoy the Steel City!
