It’s a Hockey Night in Pittsburgh

Between October – April, it’s a great day for hockey. In a city known for their passionate fanbase, the energy that surrounds the Pittsburgh Penguins is electric. If you’re looking for an event to make lasting memories, going to a game at PPG Paints Arena is for you! The fun starts before the puck drops with pre-game warmups, team intros and anthem singer, Jeff Jimmerson pumping up the crowd! For 60 minutes you will cheer on Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and the rest of the boys. If you’re lucky, Iceburgh, the team’s mascot will make his way to your section and photobomb your selfies!

The arena offers a variety of amenities, in-game entertainment, and family friendly activities. If you’re an out of towner or just need to replenish your yinzer wardrobe, Pens Gear has all the merchandise you never knew you needed and you won’t find it anywhere else! Food and drink options range from hotdogs to hibachi to ice cold I.C. Light and milkshakes.
Pre-gaming is a must! If you’re looking for cost-effective food options, Market Square is within walking distance and there are great bars and restaurants to choose from. Satisfy your black and gold heart with a Primanti Brotherssandwich loaded with French fries and coleslaw. If Mexican food is more your thing, Las Velas has authentic cuisine, amazing salsa and queso and the best margaritas in the city! There are a lot of great places uptown around the arena but they get very crowded, very fast so make sure you plan ahead! If tailgating is more your thing, go to a baseball game, tailgating isn’t permitted in the lots surrounding PPG.

Get to a game soon and cheer the Pittsburgh Penguins on to a 16th consecutive postseason! Let’s go Pens!
  • Best Place to Eat Before the Game: Las Velas in Market Square
  • Best Bars to Grab a Quick Drink: City Works in Market Square or Café Fifth Avenue right across from the arena
  • Best Place to Park: Mellon Square Garage sits between Market Square and the arena. It’s $6 for the evening after 5 p.m. and it’s in walking distance. Added bonus – you will feel safe walking back after the game because hundreds of people will be walking back with you!
  • Best Selfie Spots: Inside the life size hockey helmet on the first concourse or in front of Mario Lemieux statue outside the arena.
