Founded in Pittsburgh in 2014, we design and operate fully furnished homes that are move-in ready, thoughtfully curated, and genuinely livable. Our Story
doSh is, at its core, a family story.
It begins with two very different journeys that eventually found their way to the same place. Shima left Iran as a child, in search of a better life with her family and spending years in Europe before settling in Pittsburgh. Donny spent six years serving in the United States Navy before beginning a career in engineering. They met in Pittsburgh, fell in love, and started building a life together — grounded in resilience, creativity, and service.
When they bought their first condo in 2010, something unexpected happened. They naturally became the people others relied on — for oversight, problem-solving, and care. Neighbors trusted them not just because things were handled well, but because they were handled thoughtfully. That experience planted the seed for something bigger.
At the time, the idea of thoughtfully furnished, family-friendly homes simply didn't exist the way it does today. Long before platforms like Airbnb became mainstream, Donny and Shima saw a need — especially for families and professionals who needed a place that felt like home when they were between homes, relocating, or simply away from their own.
By blending Donny's engineering mindset with Shima's designer's eye, they began creating spaces guided by one simple rule: if we wouldn't want to live here, it doesn't become a doSh home.
That principle still defines everything we do.
The name doSh itself reflects that partnership — Donny and Shima — two perspectives, working in balance. Each home is carefully designed, fully furnished, and intentionally equipped so that families, athletes, entertainers, and professionals can walk in and immediately feel grounded. Over the years, we've had the privilege of hosting some of the most recognizable names in sports, entertainment, and business — and many of our residents can say, with a smile, that a well-known guest likely stayed in their home before them.
As parents of two young daughters, we understand firsthand how deeply important home is to a family. It's where routines form, where kids feel safe, and where life actually happens. That understanding informs every decision we make — from layout and furnishings to neighborhood selection and service.
Today, doSh is proudly a minority woman-owned and disabled veteran-owned company, built on care, intention, and lived experience. A small but meaningful detail we love: many of our homes are named after the very first person or family who stayed there — a reminder that each space has a story, just like the people who live in it.
Since 2014, our goal has never changed: to create homes that feel personal, elevated, and genuinely livable — because home should always feel like more than just a place to stay.
