Did you know that Pennsylvania has the longest foliage season than anywhere else in the world? According to the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the last week in October is prime time to see autumn in all its glory before winter makes its return.  Here are some of the best spots to take in vibrant, seasonal views…
Take a hike…
  • Frick Park: Pittsburgh’s largest park is an outdoor lover’s dream. Spanning over 600 acres, there’s something beautiful at every turn. The deeper you wander into the park, the more picturesque it is. You’ll find wooden bridges, creeks, and wildlife! The burst of colors surrounding the Frick Park Nature Center on Beechwood Blvd in Squirrel Hill make for ideal photo ops and the Reynolds Street entrance this time of year will take your breath away.
  • North Park: If you love water as part of your landscape, walking around the 65-acre lake is for you. This is a popular spot for walkers, runners and outdoor enthusiasts in all it’s fall glory.
  • Point State Park: On sunny autumn days, the fountain will be on and the green, gold and red trees surrounding The Pointe from Mount Washington to the North Shore pop.
  • Schenley Park Loop: You would never know this spot is right in the heart of the city by the woods and deer that surround it. It’s the perfect place to grab a bench and soak in the solitude while taking in the scenery.

Take a drive…
  • Somerset’s Packsaddle Covered Bridge: Hop in the car and drive to Somerset. The Packsaddle Covered Bridge is an hour outside of Pittsburgh and it hangs over a waterfall surrounded by trees and greenery, not to mention it looks and feels like it came right out of a Hallmark movie. Very Instagram worthy.
  • PA Turnpike: If you like to take long drives, the Pennsylvania turnpike is one of the best places to revel in the beauty of the autumn season. Colorful trees and landscapes line the way with some of the most gorgeous colors you will see this time of year.
Get out there and take in the brisk, fresh air and enjoy this time of year because it never lasts long. You will find foliage in any neighborhood or park around town, yet another reason to love the 412!
